In light of ongoing news surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to assure you that all of us here at Penguin are taking precautionary steps to protect our customers, communities and our team members. We are monitoring reports from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

In our line of work, we don’t have a lot of contact with our customers. Most of our customers are not home when we provide service and more than 95% of customers get digital invoices sent via email.

However even with our very limited contact, we are taking 3 prominent steps to ensure we do not transmit COVID-19.

1. Our technicians use disposable gloves.
2. Our technicians will begin wearing disposable face masks starting monday.
3. We are limiting physical contact such as the practice of hand shaking.

Through this issue, Penguin Pest Control will continue servicing our community by treating and keeping our homes & businesses pest free. Pest control is considered an essential, core function in society; no one wants a pest infestation on top of COVID-19; not to mention the fact that lack of pest control and sanitation can create and transmit pathogens and diseases. Penguin is not corporately owned, or a franchise. The company was started right here in the West, in Grand Junction, Colorado. In the beginning it was just the owner and his brother. Spencer handled sales and marketing and his brother serviced the accounts. We are still locally owned and locally concerned. Our goal for the future is to continue a local, family operated culture. My name is Spencer Christensen. Above is a picture of me and my family taken at the time when we first started Penguin. At that time the name of the company was SNAP. We later joined forces with a local company called Mountain Pest Control and I decided to change the name of the company from SNAP to Penguin Pest Control.

We are constantly striving to find the best and most cost effective techniques of integrated pest management. Integrated pest management (IPM) is an art which needs to be continually honed. That is what we do. A good example of this is when elm seed beetles first hit our headquarter city of Grand Junction. Elm seed beetles are not native to North America, and when they first showed up, infestations broke out in droves. It took many companies by surprise. Penguin Pest Control was one of, if not, the very first company here, to learn how to effectively control these infestations. Long after other companies were turning down customers, or trying to figure out how to treat these bugs, Penguin was helping customers effectively control infestations.
